The center of East Nashville's entertainment district, Five Points, just got an exciting new urban amenity: New York-style pizza served up by the pie or by the slice, available late into the evening.
Five Points Pizza opened today at 1012 Woodland St., in the former bike shop. (At right is a prosciutto and basil pizza, in a photo from their soft opening posted on Facebook last week.)
The owners are three East Nashville residents: David Tieman and Tara Ertichek Tieman — who are so devoted to pizza that they got married earlier this year in the Stratosphere during the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas — and their friend Tanner Jacobs, a restaurant veteran who helped found the Sticky Fingers chain in Chattanooga.
Pizza isn't a new thing for East Nashville, but the team says their business has some distinguishing twists: They sell by the slice, and they stay open late — until midnight during the week, 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The foot soldiers of East Nashville revelry will be able to pick up a slice before or after a visit to their favorite East Side bar.
