Ride With the Green Fairy and Third Stage Absinthe
Ride With the Green Fairy and Third Stage Absinthe

Absinthe, the anise-flavored European spirit known colloquially as “The Green Fairy,” has a long and notorious history. Once banned in many countries due to the reputed hallucinatory effects of wormwood, one of the traditional botanicals added for flavor, absinthe has arrived again in the U.S. with a vengeance.

We even have a local producer, Third Stage Absinthe, the brainchild of young entrepreneur Chase Wilson. Partnering with Nashville Craft Distillery for production, Wilson has created his own unique version of the licorice-flavored spirit. We’ll have a longer feature on Wilson and Third Stage in an upcoming issue of the Scene, but if you’d like to sample his product before you read about it, Wilson will be offering tastings at Craft Brewed on June 14 from 4:30-7 p.m. He'll be happy to answer your questions about his product and absinthe in general, or you can just keep a look out for our upcoming print story.
