Retro Sno to Set Up in The Nations This Summer

A shaved-ice provider will establish a four-month single-site food truck presence this summer in The Nations starting in early May.

Retro Sno will operate its truck at 806 51st Ave. N. in the heart of the mixed-use district and next to the structure housing food business Tin Wings. It will offer picnic tables on the site.

To date, Retro Sno co-owners Morgan Williamson and Keith Williamson (who are married) have operated the business via three food trucks in various Nashville locations since 2012, having started with one truck. Once set in The Nations, the Williamsons will continue to have the trio of food trucks operational throughout the city.

Keith Williamson said that having a presence in The Nations through August (as of now) will allow the couple to determine if the business can be successful at one location year round in the future.

Retro Sno is home to approximately 18 employees and operates its three trucks from March to October. Leah Johnston serves as general manager of the business.

Of note, the Williamsons once lived in The Nations mere feet from the site on which they will operate this summer. The couple now lives in Green Hills.

“We chose this location because it's close to our hearts, and it's a fabulous up-and-coming Nashville neighborhood with a growing food scene,” Williamson said. “We built out the first Retro Sno Truck — in our backyard with our own hands — just around the corner in The Nations, and we're thrilled to offer our snoballs in the very neighborhood that helped us get off the ground.”

Williamson said Retro Sno has seen steady annual revenue increases since it began operations. The Williamsons, who own the business solely, are not disclosing the cost to get operational in The Nations or terms of their land lease.
