Each favorite restaurant reopening brings us closer back to “normal.” So today, diners rejoice as our favorite Iberian dinner oasis, Peninsula, will be ready to feed us inside starting tonight, Friday, June 18. For the time being, the restaurant will be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for dinner only.
Peninsula was closed during the pandemic, in part because its owners wanted to assure that its small, cozy space and incredible attention to detail could be presented to diners in the way in which they intended. With just 38 seats (28 at the bistro tables and 10 at the bar), removing seats to reduce capacity would have been seriously limiting to their operations.
We didn’t have to go without Peninsula entirely last year. As we’ve reported here, there were options for takeout dumplings, broth and savory tonics. But now, we will be able to dine with friends in the East Nashville space that comes alive with natural light from its large windows.
"We were incredibly thankful to have the broth, tonic syrup and dumpling pop-up to keep us busy,” says co-owner Yuriko Say, “but we’re so excited to get back to running our restaurant again and doing what we love to do. We’ve missed our regulars. We’ve missed the controlled chaos of being in a busy restaurant. We’ve missed it all really. And we can’t wait to introduce the new menu that [Chef Jake Howell] has been working on!”
Howell’s brand-new à la carte-style menu will include new Spanish- and French-inspired items that he has been perfecting throughout the past year. Peninsula's signature gin and tonic menu as well as the old world wine list will be back, too.
Reservations via Resy are highly encouraged. Peninsula is located at 1035 W. Eastland Ave.
