Ragab “Rocky” Rashwan of King Tut's
The internet has been abuzz with glowing praise for Ragab “Rocky” Rashwan’s amazing Egyptian cuisine since back in the days when he served it out of his popular food truck. Since he permanently parked the truck and built an adjoining patio at his brick-and-mortar location at 3716 Nolensville Pike, even more diners have started to discover his take on what he calls “Mediterranean fare with an NY flair” at King Tut’s. Reservations on that patio are available from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, but those have started to be a little more difficult to score as the word has gotten out about Rashwan’s family recipes for shawarma, falafel and gyros made using fresh ingredients.
In an effort to expand his range a little bit, Rashwan will team up with the crew at Nicky’s Coal Fired in the Nations for one night only — Wednesday, June 9 — beginning at 4 p.m. Matt Leff of Rhizome Productions is a big fan of King Tut’s and has volunteered to come up with special beer pairings for Rashwan’s menu of Egyptian-inspired pizzas, salads and pastas, which Nicky’s kitchen will prepare along with the rest of their regular menu for the evening.
Don’t worry about reservations. Just show up hungry to Nicky’s at 5026 Centennial Blvd. and be ready to take a culinary trip to Cairo via Italy. You don't want to miss out on that one!
