If you haven’t already given up on your New Year’s resolutions yet, the next couple of weeks could pretty much blow it for you! I usually give up my resolutions for Lent, so I’m good to go for the rest of the year. Clear your calendar and prepare to indulge at these upcoming events!
Chef Matt Bolus has always been known for his prowess with cooking meat, so he’s logically taking it to the next level with a special fundraising dinner coming up at 6:30 p.m. this Tuesday, Sept. 17 at The 404 Kitchen — a party he’s hosting with the local chapter of the Red Meat Lovers Club. The dinner and silent auction will raise money and awareness for The Brett Boyer Foundation, whose mission is to fund research for advanced treatment options to treat congenital heart disease. The evening will begin with a reception featuring a special hors d’oeuvre and The 404 Kitchen’s signature Brown Butter Old Fashioned, as well as a live auction to benefit The Brett Boyer Foundation. The night will continue with a five-course dinner accompanied by McManis 2017 Lodi Merlot, and finally cigars on the patio if you care to indulge. Every course will include meat. Meanwhile, a cadre of local chefs has come together to plan a special evening to raise money for CORE, an organization that supports families in the food and beverage service industry who are navigating life-altering circumstances. The event will revolve around rosé, in an evening they are calling The Blush Bash — A Celebration of The Pink Drink. Participating chefs include locals Maneet Chauhan, Kyle Patterson, RJ Cooper, David Harker and Skylar Bush, in addition to guests Katsuji Tanabe (Top Chef Boston) and Oscar Meza (YouTube, La Capital Cocina Real.)
The dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Green Door Gourmet and will feature a welcome reception, a family-style multicultural potluck supper cooked over live fire, plus a writers’ round with Billy Dawson, Cory Batten + Aaron Barker Sr. The evening will conclude with punch pie for dessert and a dance party. The ticket price is $145 all-inclusive, so pick yours up at theblushbash.com/nashville.
Finally, if you’ve ever wanted to see what all those nocturnal animals at the Nashville Zoo are doing at night, make plans to attend the zoo's biggest fundraiser of the year, Sunset Safari, on Thursday, Sept. 19, 6:30 to10 p.m. Your ticket includes food and drinks from dozens of Nashville's best restaurants, plus live entertainment and special animal hosts as you stroll about the grounds. They encourage “safari chic” attire, but wear comfy shoes if you intend to take advantage of the chance to see the animals in their natural habitats. Buy your tickets at the event website.
