Krug Bourbon Steak

I don’t normally write about really expensive events in the Monday Menu, because I figure Bites readers want to hear more about events that the average Nashvillian can afford to attend. But this month is filled with some especially outstanding culinary events at a higher tariff, including a very special Champagne dinner and two farm events that I think you need to hear about. Plus we’ve got news about an affordable international food event, so it all averages out!

When it comes to upscale steakhouses in Nashville, Bourbon Steak has to rank in the very top echelon, and Krug occupies a similar station in the world of Champagnes. So it’s a natural fit for them to come together for a gala Champagne Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 12. The intimate dinner will take place in the private dining room on the 34th floor of the JW Marriott downtown, offering sweeping views and a five-course menu paired with Krug Champagnes, some served in large format for extra drama.

Krug is celebrating the 10th year of its Single Ingredient focus, which celebrates specific aroma and flavor elements within its products. This year’s theme is the delicate influence of floral characters on the perception of taste, so attendees can expect some really interesting pairings.

After a Champagne-and-canapés reception in The Duke lounge, guests will retire to The Rare dining room for dinner and pairings, including some of Krug’s most prestigious Champagnes, including Krug Grande Cuvée 162nd Édition en Jeroboam and Krug Rosé 27th Édition.

Here’s exactly what they’ll be pouring:

  • Welcome Reception: Krug Grande Cuvée 162nd Édition en Jeroboam

  • First course: Krug Grande Cuvée 171st Édition

  • Second course: Krug Vintage 2004

  • Third course: Krug Vintage 2011

  • Fourth course: Krug Rose 27th Édition

  • Fifth course: Krug Grande Cuvée 169th Édition en Magnum

So yeah, that’s why this dinner costs a staggering $695 per seat. If you’re feeling like a baller for bubbles, you can snag a seat here.

InterNASHional Night Market Entertainment 6

On the more economical end of the scale, the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) will hold its fourth annual InterNASHional Night Market on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the organization’s headquarters at 3310 Ezell Road. The event will feature 25 immigrant- and refugee-owned food vendors and entrepreneurs along with music and dance performances throughout the evening.

Tickets for this annual TIRRC fundraiser range from a base ticket option for just $50, which includes six selections from any of the 25 immigrant and refugee local restaurants on site. The deluxe ticket option is $120 and includes unlimited selections from the restaurants on site. Both ticket packages include free parking with shuttle service, covered seating in the Eloisa Salazar Event Center and the ability to purchase alcoholic beverages. A children’s ticket is also available for $20.

This event usually sells out, so don’t dawdle purchasing your ticket if you want to attend.

Miel Exterior Shot.jpg

Miel is celebrating 16 years of operation with a special farm dinner at Fairfax Farms in Dickson on Sunday, Sept. 22. The gala event will kick off with drinks and hors d'oeuvres by the lake followed by a dinner cooked using products from the farm and open-fire grills. The beverages will be nonalcoholic, but you’re welcome to BYOB or order from Harvest Wine Market to have bottles delivered to your table.

Attendees should know: There will be some uneven ground as the party will move around the farm property, including to a bonfire for dessert. There will also be live music as entertainment as everyone celebrates what Seema Prasad and her team have accomplished over 16 years at Miel.

If you still need more inspiration, here’s the menu and run of evening:

Southern Grist Brewing Co. will provide the drinks, and the atmosphere should be, well … outstanding!
