It’s definitely pool season in Nashville, and this week’s Monday Menu features two opportunities to get poolside, baby.
The first is courtesy of Grand Hyatt Nashville and their new summer poolside wine dinner series. I don’t know about you, but I rarely feel comfortable visiting hotel rooftop and pool bars unless I’m a guest. I never know where I’m actually supposed to be or if I’ve wandered into a conventioneer happy hour.
But at the Grand Hyatt, locals are welcome, nay encouraged, to visit the rooftop lounge lou/na, where they have established a fun little pop-up pizza restaurant on the 25th floor that they’re calling slice/25. Featuring artisan pizzas by the slice and Wente wines, slice/25 will be open during lou/na’s regular operating hours.
Wente Vineyards is also the guest winery at the first of the dinner series events on the fifth-floor pool deck at the Grand Hyatt on June 12. I was fortunate enough to take part in a preview of the event, and really enjoyed the five-course family-style meal paired with Wente bubbles, whites and reds. The kitchen has also partnered with Rosewood Wagyu out of Texas and Mt. Juliet sourdough savant Hunter Briley of Émeraude Bakery to make the meals even more special.
You can’t beat the view of SoBro and downtown from that pool deck, and it occurred to me that right around sunset, Nashville’s skyline looks like the Roku screensaver — am I right?
The Grand Hyatt plans to throw these pool parties the second Friday of each month through September. The wine partners are still TBA, but you can go ahead and mark July 10, Aug. 14 and Sept. 11 in your calendar and check back at the event website to make reservations for June or to see who’s coming up next.
In other cool pool news, White Limozeen atop the Graduate Nashville hotel is getting ready for the fourth-annual Piña Colad-Off starting at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 15. The poolside party will feature cold coconut concoctions from bartenders from around the city, including Martha My Dear, Bastion, Love’s Alibi, Fortunate Son, Good Times, Barrel Proof, Pearl Diver, Mother’s Ruin, Groceries, Old Glory and the home team at White Limozeen.
Your $20 ticket entitles you to sample each team’s take on the iconic national drink of Puerto Rico along with all the fun of a great pool party with DJ Amy Darling. Of course, you must be 21 or older to sample. Book your spot on Resy ASAP!
