Let Sylvia Ganier of Green Door Gourmet Improve Your Cocktail Prowess

Just as with food menus, cocktail lists should change seasonally. Heavy, boozy drinks aren’t necessarily appropriate for hot-weather drinking, and the bounty of local produce provides plenty of new ingredients in the form of herbs, fruits and vegetables to add you your mixology palette.

Green Door Gourmet owner Sylvia Ganier is an expert at coming up with cocktail recipes, and she has acres of fresh produce at her disposal as she develops flavor combinations for summer drinks. Fortunately, she’s more than happy to share her wisdom with students during her frequent food and drink classes at the Green Door Gourmet farm at 7007 River Road Pike. Her next class will be this Friday, June 7, 6 to 9 p.m., as she'll lead students through three unique cocktail recipes designed for back porch or poolside sipping.

Ganier, who was a longtime chef and restaurateur before devoting herself to running the organic Green Door Gourmet farm, will teach attendees how to prepare these drinks using fresh seasonal produce and herbs from the farm, and you’ll go home with the recipes. You can also purchase the ingredients from the farm store, and light refreshments will be provided during the class. Space is limited, so reserve your $35 ticket by visiting Green Door Gourmet’s website in advance.
