Jeremy Sewall is an award-winning chef and restaurateur from Boston, and he’s been a frequent visitor to Nashville. A big reason for that is his working relationship with the editor-in-chief of The Local Palate, Nashville food writer Erin Byers Murray. The talented duo has collaborated on three cookbooks, including Sewall’s latest release Everyday Chef: Simple Dishes for Family and Friends.
As part of Sewall’s book tour, he’ll be making two appearances in Nashville in early December, and you can get some great food at both of them! On Wednesday, Dec. 3, Sewall will visit another expert seafood chef when he drops by Henrietta Red for happy hour from 5 until 8:30 p.m. Chef Julia Sullivan and her kitchen team will be cooking from the book for à la carte ordering as well as offering a special deal where guests can enjoy three small plates and bubbles plus a copy of the book for $80. You’ll need to register in advance to be part of that deal, so jump on it before the tickets sell out.
The next day, Sewall will make a stop at Turkey and the Wolf Ice House for a special lobster roll lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., or more likely, until they sell out of those delicious rolls. The ticket to the event includes guaranteed lobster roll access through a designated pick-up window, along with a copy of the book. They’ll also be serving up craft drafts from Maine Beer Co. If you don’t want to buy a ticket in advance, you can take your chances and just show up, but I wouldn’t risk it. Once the rolls sell out, you might still be able to purchase one of chef Sewall’s lobster rangoons, but that just isn’t the same thing!
Over in Pietown, Tennessee Brew Works has come up with a fun way to make spirits bright with a three-week series of Christmas Jazz Sundays at the brewery at 809 Ewing Ave. The Nashville Jazz Workshop has put together an ensemble featuring Rob Foglia on guitar, Jordan Frederick on sax, drummer Mel Flores and bassist Eddie Cartegena to play holiday jazz tunes. They’ll also feature appearances by selected students from the Jazz Workshop.
The music will run from 1 until 5 p.m. on Dec. 7, 14 and 21, and Tennessee Brew Works will offer their full food menu plus beers and cocktails at the bar to make it even merrier. So have yourself a beery little Christmas now!
