CBD Cafe Anzie Blue Makes the Move from Belle Meade to Hillsboro Village

Earlier this year, I wrote about how Derek Van Mol and Marcie Allen Van Mol had bravely opened up a new CBD-centric cafe called Anzie Blue in the Stanford Square shopping center in Belle Meade. The intrepid entrepreneurs soon realized that they needed a different location to draw in the crowds they hoped for. Now, Belle Meade patrons will have to travel a little further to enjoy Anzie Blue's CBD-infused cocktails and cheese boards.

The new space — located at 2111 Belcourt Ave. in Hillsboro Village — is as stunning as the old, with bold decor courtesy of local designer Jonathan Savage. The exposed cement floor befits the Manhattan vibe of the space, but local art installations, bold hues and a foliage-covered wall add warmth to the room. A central bar serves specialty coffee drinks, tea and cocktails, all of which can be infused with some of the Van Mols' proprietary line of CBD products.

A small stage in the corner will host live music, and a weekend jazz brunch is planned for the future, so it could be a fine place to hit before or after a movie at the Belcourt across the street. With the new location comes an expanded kitchen space and accompanying menu. While the standard fare focuses on healthier items like breakfast bowls, sandwiches and salads, Marcie jokes, “We’re especially proud of our new fryer!”

The winter menu offers breakfast served all day plus soups, salads, galettes and attractive shareable plates like baked brie with apples and sourdough, mushroom tacos and crispy cauliflower straight out of that fryer. As a Village-adjacent resident for 30 years now, I’m quite happy to see some healthier food options in the neighborhood, which has been home to several great spots to grab a burger, breakfast, nachos served in a dog bowl, your birthday beer (also served in a different dog bowl) and ice cream. I mean, I love all those things, but I won't say no to something lighter either.

In addition to its food and drink offerings, Anzie Blue sells CBD tinctures, bath bombs, lotions and more. The Van Mols also plan to continue to allow guests to sample these products so you can figure out what works best for you. Anzie Blue offers a free hour of parking in the adjacent garage — you won’t have to worry about scouring the streets for a spot if you want to enjoy a cup of coffee or do a little shopping.

Anzie Blue is open seven days a week: 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday; 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
