1106 Woodland St.
The owners of Nashville-based Burger & Company are planning a July 1 opening for a location in East Nashville's Five Points neighborhood.
Wife and husband Kristi and Bruce Leigh, who founded the business in early 2020, will operate at 1106 Woodland St. The Leighs also operate a Burger & Company in Old Hickory (which began operations in May) and in Spirit Lake, Iowa (which opened in March 2020). Of note, the Leighs own residential property in both East Nashville and Iowa.
Burger & Company bills itself as offering made-from-scratch burgers, and the restaurant’s menu also features a spicy chicken thigh sandwich, a turkey burger, a shrimp PoBoy, a grilled cheese with tomato bisque shooter, a Cuban panini, sweet and spicy chicken nuggets, hot tater tots, rosemary sea salt fries, beer-battered cheese curds, milk shakes, salads, and chocolate chip and sugar cookies.
“We take so much pride in developing original and fresh burgers and sandwiches,” Kristi says. “We make everything fresh, from our BC sauce to our homemade big cookies. It is so important to develop layers of flavors that complement each burger or sandwich.”
Burger & Company employs approximately 23 part- and full-time workers at its two current locations.
The Leighs are not disclosing the cost to get operational in Five Points, and the terms of their lease with East Nashville-based entrepreneur and real estate investor Christian Paro. The building was last home to Art & Invention Gallery (more on that here).
Kristi, who is a licensed accountant and interior designer, is handling the design of the future space. She also owns and operates Johnathan Blake Interiors in Okoboji, Iowa.
“We live just a few blocks from our East Nashville location,” Kristi says. “We absolutely love the vibe and scene and knew this was a perfect fit for our business. We call this location our home and wanted to be an integral part of East Nashville.”
