Christie Cookies Introduces Giant Cookie Cakes

We're finally starting to get more details about Christie Cookies' new 12South shop. Set to open sometime this summer, in the former Sprinkles location, the Christie Cookies store will carry the bakery's usual cookie selection — chocolate chip, white chocolate macadamia, oatmeal raisin and more — along with ice cream sandwiches, brownies and brookies (brownie cookies, y'all!), coffee and ... giant cookies!

Yup, Christie Cookies is expanding in more ways than one — they've introduced 16-inch cookie cakes to their menu. The cookie cakes, which are already available through their catering menu for $45, will be sold at the shop in three flavors — chocolate chip, chocolate chunk and sugar cookie.

The Scene recently got to sample a chocolate chip cookie cake — appropriately decorated for our upcoming YASNI issue (out July 19!) — and whoa, it is so decadent. The cookie is soft and buttery like Christie Cookies usually are, but this is even thicker. One staffer picked up a chunk of cookie and immediately mimed his hand falling to the ground, remarking how heavy it felt. With the extra frosting on top, it makes for a very sweet dessert and, take it from this office of folks currently experiencing a sugar crash, a little goes a long way. A few folks even said the giant chocolate chip cookie was too sweet, but others said it was just right. I think it'd be perfect served with a scoop of ice cream.
