Looking for a nice, relaxing way to ease into your holiday weekend? Cheekwood’s popular Thursday Night Out series continues this week, offering a perfect blend of food, music and summertime vibes. You can grab a cocktail and stroll the gardens. Or maybe choose a tasty treat from cafe and bakery Perenn, or one of the fun food trucks available — including HauteWheels Rolling Sandwich Co., Yayo’s OMG, New Berlin Eats and The Pink Truck. Then settle in on the arboretum lawn for a great evening of music from Nashville’s own Charles “Wigg” Walker. A veteran of the local soul and R&B scene, Walker is the real deal, having worked with big names like James Brown and Otis Redding and enjoying a career that spans more than six decades. This is also a great time to explore Cheekwood’s new train installation, America the Beautiful: National Parks & Landmarks by Rail — a terrific exhibition honoring some of the nation’s most iconic sites.
