We should all hope to be hittin’ it in our 80s as hard as 84-year-old Charles “Wigg” Walker does on his first album in more than a decade, the wonderful This Love Is Gonna Last. It’s a love letter of sorts to Walker’s late wife Marva, set to old-school funk and R&B grooves. Walker co-wrote most of the material with keyboardist Charles Treadway, who also produced the album. Featuring accompaniment from Treadway, guitarist Pat Bergeson and drummer Pete Abbott, the record also includes contributions from a number of well-regarded horn players and backing vocalists.
