If you’d like a free tree this weekend, Centennial Park is the place to be. There will be 1,500 of them ready to go to their new homes. While you’re there, why not stick around for Nashville’s official Earth Day celebration, produced by the Centennial Park Conservancy? There will also be some free helmets, an electric car show, a free yoga class and a parade for kids to participate in. Turnip Green Creative Reuse will have craft supplies to share, and an artisan market will feature small businesses offering local options for recycled, reused, up-cycled and natural products. In all, there will be 75 exhibitors and vendors, plus food trucks and adult beverages. Like any good Nashville event, Earth Day at the Centennial Park Bandshell will feature live music, with The Watson Twins, Phillip-Michael Scales, Rico Del Oro, Alex Wong and Bonner Black. Having recently watched that movie in which Ryan Gosling has to partner with an alien to save the planet, I am feeling invigorated and ready to celebrate Earth Day.
