Following the deaths of seven people during the Covenant School shooting in March 2023, Nashville’s own Ketch Secor wrote an op-ed in The New York Times about America’s obsession with guns. Then NPR journalist David Greene contacted his friend Secor with a plan to travel across the country to discuss gun rights and gun violence. The result is Louder Than Guns, which will be screening at the Belcourt on May 11. Secor, frontman for Old Crow Medicine Show and the new host of the long-running Nashville PBS program Tennessee Crossroads, will take part in a pre-screening panel discussion. He’ll be joined by Katy Dieckhaus, mother of Covenant victim Evelyn Dieckhaus and community engagement coordinator for nonprofit Safer Tennessee; Clay Stauffer, author and senior minister at Woodmont Christian Church; and moderator Blake Farmer, a Nashville Public Radio journalist and host of This Is Nashville. Greene and the film’s director Doug Pray will also be in attendance.
8 p.m. at the Belcourt
