Best Way to Start a Garden in Nashville 2026: Nashville Public Library’s Seed Exchange
The Nashville Public Library does a lot for us, and their Seed Exchange program is one example of their many outreach programs to connect Nashvillians with resources and knowledge. At any NPL branch, you can “check out” seeds for free and take them home to grow. You’ll also get connected to the expert advice of the Master Gardeners of Davidson County, who host year-round workshops at library branches for aspiring horticulturalists. At the end of the growing season, if your harvest goes well, you can even pay it forward and donate seeds back to the program.
Past Best of Nashville wins: In our Writers’ Choice, Nashville Public Library’s Seed Exchange has also been named Best Place to Get Seeds (2024) and Best Resource for Gardeners (2022).
