Since New Year’s Eve 2015, the Twitter account Nashville Scanner (@ScanNashville) has been using open data, media reports and tips to send out updates about Nashville-area police and fire activity. The account has long been a useful tool and source of entertainment for reporters, not to mention curious Nashvillians in general. But Nashville Scanner has really picked up steam in recent months and years, attracting more than 15,000 followers with its ceaseless updates about area crime, law enforcement activity, extreme weather and — perhaps most popularly — drunken behavior from downtown bar-goers. Come for the latest emergency-services dispatch notices, stay for the weekend bachelorette-party counts and transpotainment updates.
