Tesla at The Cannery

At the time of his death at age 86, the legendary inventor Nikola Tesla was still pushing ahead with new ideas—his final projects included a “death beam” that he hoped would put an end to all wars. The California-based hard-rock band that took its name from the great man has been cranking for a mere 24 years, but it too is continuing to develop new ideas long after most of its contemporaries have fallen away. The band doesn’t quite operate on the “death beam” level of ambition on its new album, Forever More, but it does find plenty of new twists on its brand of time-tested meat-and-potatoes rock. On its current tour, Tesla has been showcasing its new material alongside classics like “Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out),” “Modern Day Cowboy” and the deathless power ballad “Love Song.”
