See the Burbank Karate Club Fight Ultimate Evil in Belcourt's Raw Force at Midnight

Every now and then, The Belcourt uncovers a forgotten ’80s action movie so staggeringly inept, so thoroughly unable to cross the yawning gulf between its insane ambitions and its fleabag execution, that a viewer can only walk away from the ensuing fireball of human incompetence in swaggering slow motion. Such a film, my friends, is the 1982 craptacular Raw Force, playing tonight and tomorrow at midnight.

In the movie formerly known as Kung Fu Cannibals, writer-director Edward Murphy dispatches three roundhouse-kicking brosephs from “the Burbank Karate Club” to an island populated by a modern-day slave trader with a Hitler mustache. And deadly piranhas! And cannibal monks! And needless nudity! And zombie ass-kickers who rise from their graves! To fight bikini-clad Cookie (Jillian Kesner)! With special guest star Cameron Mitchell!

If you have fond memories of previous Belcourt marvels such as Miami Connection and Samurai Cop — or if you missed out — we advise you that this screening will be legend. LEGEND. (No, not the Tom Cruise unicorn movie — that’s next weekend.)
