The third installment in a four-part series, Time Lapse is a single-channel video art show (i.e. one projector showing all of the pieces sequentially) featuring works by Joseph Winchester, Carlin Wing, Leanneau White, Artur Augustynowicz, Bidzina Kanchaveli, Dietmar Krumery, Robert Milton, Johnny Cisneros and exhibit curator Amelia Winger-Bearskin, who currently teaches at Vanderbilt. According to press materials, the show is a study of sequence, complete with holes, lapses, mistakes and doubt. If Kanchaveli's "7 1/2 Women" (viewable on YouTube) is any indication, the works should be intriguing while challenging the comfort zone. In his show Mythos, Portland, Ore.'s Blue Mitchell uses a variety of photographic transfer processes to "capture a world that's been subverted by our intellect." The dreamlike images, featuring recurring themes—women, water, birds, insects, ghostly apparitions—are lovely and seductive, though they possess an ominous undercurrent, the elusiveness of which only magnifies their sense of foreboding.
