Friday Video Inspiration: Street Artist Swoon Talks Pain, Compassion and Art

Here's something a little different to jolt you out of your end-of-week doldrums: The long-mysterious street artist

Swoon

, whose real name is Caledonia Curry, gave a talk about how she made her way into the art world despite a deeply troubled upbringing filled with instability and two severely heroin-addicted parents.

I'm like, "OK, this art world? I don't know who this world was built by, and I don't know who it was built for, but I have a feeling that maybe it's not teenage girls from mentally ill drug-addicted families in Florida." And I start to get the feeling that I have to invent something that's mine.

The conference she spoke at,

The Feast

, uploaded the video to Vimeo yesterday, and it's too good not to share.
