After almost two years in the still transitional 12 South neighborhood, The Attic Gallery is moving to a more established address in Hillsboro Village. The new space, above the Posh clothing boutique on 21st Avenue South, is the same one where the gallery mounted a successful Steve Keene show in December, selling a whopping 400 paintings by the famously prolific New York artist in a few days.
Attic Gallery owners Julie and Jerry Dale McFadden are taking some time off in January and February to recover from an intensive 2001 exhibition schedule and to prepare the new space for a mid-March opening. First up in the new space will be works by Jennifer Fabraro and Casey McGlynn, both self-taught outsider artists from Canada who have never shown in Nashville before.
According to the McFaddens, the move will enable them to join forces with another Hillsboro Village art space. “We have scheduled our reopening to coincide with Zeitgeist Gallery’s reception for its Buddy Jackson and Will Berry exhibit on March 16,” says Jerry Dale. “Janice [Zeitlin] and Lain [York] at Zeitgeist are very enthusiastic about us moving into the neighborhood. Our hope is also to have more regular hours and catch more foot traffic by being in the Village.”
