Their six-song EP starts with the singer meeting a girl who’s half-undressed in a graveyard because “She’s Insane”; it ends with the fervent, fuck-you-if-you-think-this-is-ironic wish that John Denver were still alive; and in between there’s enough sludgy, bad-tempered riffage to rip apart a phonebook-sized stack of Kerrang!s, capped by a flabbergasting ode to Dickerson Road at night that evokes a mental image of Dylan and Jim Morrison trawling wild-eyed and wary for scary trim near the Congress Inn. I’d have been thrilled if Chinese Democracy had turned out even half this good. And since this is Crofton, you’ll get one of the funniest stand-up acts this side of the Mississippi free of charge between songs. The EP is free with entry.
