The Ornaments Present A Charlie Brown Christmas

Seeing The Ornaments perform Vince Guaraldi’s A Charlie Brown Christmas is becoming a requisite December activity, right up there with taking pictures with Santa and getting drunk on eggnog to survive awkward conversations with your racist uncle. For 11 years now, some of Nashville’s most respected jammers have gathered at The Family Wash to pay tribute to the best holiday album ever recorded (sorry, Mariah Carey), and the stars of The Ornaments are worthy of topping your tree. The trio features keyboardist Jen Gunderman — who toured with The Jayhawks for years and has performed with a staggering number of music legends, including Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Dixie Chicks, Loretta Lynn, Exene Cervenka and John Prine — along with drummer Martin Lynds and bassist James Haggerty, fresh off a tour with Steve Cropper. A variety of special guest soloists will be popping up throughout the nine-night Family Wash residency, too. Shows often sell out, so consider buying tickets in advance at familywash.com/ornaments. (There’s also a one-off show 10 a.m. Dec. 17 at the Belcourt — see belcourt.org for tickets to that one.) MEGAN SELING
