On Aug. 15 and 16, the seventh run of Deep Tropics Music, Art, & Style Festival washed Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in club-ready electronic beats and prismatic light shows.

Scene staff photographer Angelina Castillo rolled through to capture the scene during the opening night festivities on Friday. Performances from star DJs and rising producers the likes of Alison Wonderland, Wild Bill and Cloonee took place on four stages, and fans in kaleidoscopic festival-season gear spread out amid vendors and art installations across the downtown green space.
Over the past decade, the park has gone from seeming perhaps a bit underused for public events to something of a hotspot that’s also hosted Nashville Pride and the Nashville’s Big Bash show on New Year’s Eve. Meanwhile, Deep Tropics organizers have kept their finger on the pulse of the electronic music world and continued to bring packed crowds, exciting talent and a substantial commitment to being “the greenest festival in North America.”
