Mike Pigott, a founder of the powerful Nashville public relations firm McNeely Pigott & Fox, has died of an apparent heart attack.
The firm confirmed Pigott's passing in a brief statement."Mike Pigott was one of a kind," the statement read. "Talented writer, a loving husband and father, the quickest wit in any gathering, world traveler and ballroom dancer extraordinaire. Everyone who knew him has lost a true friend, and our hearts go out to Sharon, his three wonderful daughters and the many other members of his family."
MP&F was founded by Mark McNeely as McNeely & Associates in 1987. Pigott joined in 1988 and the firm became MP&F when David Fox joined in 1990. Pigott — like the two other names on the door — was a former newspaper reporter. He won awards as an investigative reporter and political editor at the Nashville Banner, where he worked for 12 years.
Pigott was 61.
