Waymo autonomous vehicles

Autonomous rideshare service Waymo is now available at Nashville International Airport.

The robotaxi service will be available for pickups and drop-offs at BNA for select riders and will expand to additional riders over time. Waymo has a dedicated space in the Ground Transportation Center at the D1 curb.

Nashville International Airport is the fifth airport in the U.S. with availability for Waymo services. BNA joins Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, San José Mineta International Airport, San Francisco International Airport and San Antonio International Airport.

“BNA takes great pride in introducing innovative ways to enhance the passenger journey, and welcoming Waymo provides travelers with another convenient transportation option to and from the airport,” Doug Kreulen, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, says in a press release.

“As Nashville continues to grow, we want to embrace new technologies that give our passengers greater choice, flexibility and ease when traveling through BNA.”

Waymo services initially launched in Nashville this year. The cost to undertake the effort was not disclosed in the release. The services came as a partnership with Lyft, allowing the robotaxi services to be available for matching with Lyft rides while also being available via the Waymo network.

In September, Waymo announced the service is now available to individuals age 13 to 17, with Nashville joining Phoenix as the only two U.S. markets offering teen accounts. Parents can arrange service for their teens via the Waymo app. Once activated, they can hail the vehicles offered throughout Waymo’s 50-square-mile Nashville service area.

“Serving rides to and from Nashville International Airport provides a convenient and reliable new way to catch your next flight,” says Arica Gately, head of airport business development and partnerships at Waymo.

“With our growing number of airports and cities served, Waymo can now offer a door-to-door experience for your next air travels.”
