Keeping up with all Bill Haslam's positions on guns is making us dizzy. First,
he was criticized(one newspaper branded Haslam “spineless”) for telling the state Firearms Association
he would signlegislation to allow the carrying of handguns without permits in Tennessee. Now, he’s claiming he would fight to the end to stop the legislature from changing the gun law in any way, much less deleting it entirely from state statutes. What’s more, he insists he’s not flip-flopping at all. "I don’t know how I can be more clear about that," he said more than once today.
We asked Haslam about the gun issue this afternoon at his campaign stops in Springfield and Hendersonville. "If we have—like I hope we will have—a Republican legislature," he said, "I will engage on that issue early" to stop any changes in the gun law.
