Dolly Parton Should Be College GameDay's Guest Picker in Knoxville

ESPN announced Sunday that, for some reason, College GameDay will be in Knoxville Saturday for Tennessee vs. Florida, a rivalry that hasn't really mattered outside of this state in many years. The Vols have been lackluster so far this season and who knows about the Gators, who probably could've played their first three games without helmets given the class of their opponents.

Regardless, the GameDay crew will be comin' to that citay this weekend and, as is their custom, they will invite a celebrity guest to join them at the end of the broadcast and pick winners for the day's slate of games. There is only one celebrity guest who should even be considered to be on that set Saturday. Not Kenny Chesney or Brad Paisley or even Peyton Manning. The guest picker must be Dolly Parton.

Does Dolly even care a lick about college football? I don't know and it doesn't even matter. Katy Perry was once a celebrity guest picker and she turned out to be one of the best they've ever had. Dolly Parton was born in East Tennessee and she's the best damn thing about this state. It's her and whiskey, at least. So many things in our country seem wrong right now. Dolly Parton is right.

Do the right thing, ESPN.

(And if she says no, ask Knoxville-native Quentin Tarantino.)

Update (12:30 p.m.): Not convinced? Here is Dolly singing "Rocky Top" with Jim Nabors.
