Pick of the Day: Ash Sivils' 'Oddity' at Blackbird Tattoo & Gallery

This image exemplifies the eerie work of Nashville artist/photographer Ash Sivils, who describes herself as "synonymous with the dark, surreal, grotesque, and macabre forms of digital art." Her exhibit Oddity continues through Jan. 23 at Blackbird Tattoo and Gallery, 2306 12th Ave. S. Joe Nolan describes Sivils' "dark art" in the Scene:

Recently voted Nashville's Best Visual Artist in this year's Toast of Music City poll, Ash Sivils brings a dash of darkness and mystery to the holiday season with her new show at Blackbird Tattoo and Gallery. Combining photography, painting and digital media, Sivils' work is both sexy and spooky, surreal and sublime. It's also the kind of work that is likely to cause nightmares before Christmas. Blackbird has become a bit of a contrarian outpost in the 12South neighborhood, mixing all that blood and ink with Sunday-night art bashes just a few blocks from the most expensive hamburgers in town. Introducing Sivils into the mix at the height of the holiday season may seem counterintuitive, but, like a lump of coal in your stocking, you shoulda seen it coming.
