There's a lot riding on this one, folks. To recruit a movie, the state film commission has put out an all-points bulletin looking for a house in Tennessee that matches or approximates this location (Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, N.Y.). Says the commission: "It should be a palatial castle-like mansion. Very gothic, stone, old money, refined ... like a fairy tale. In an ideal world European Gothic with grounds, long driveway, spiral staircase. Nothing built in the last 10 to 15 years."
If we're Googling correctly, the Fox Searchlight project sounds awesome: It's Stoker, the first English-language film by Oldboy's Park Chan-wook, a mystery starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mia Wasikowska, written by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller, and produced by Ridley Scott's production company. Now that's the kind of movie Tennessee could get behind!
First, though, the commission needs photos, and it needs 'em fast. If you know of such a place, take a picture or at least pass along the address. All photos need to be in JPEG format and sent to bob.raines@tn.gov by Thursday. Spread the word!
UPDATE, 4/21: This from the film commission: "Fox Searchlight has expanded their location needs and is also looking for an 'old money' estate with expansive grounds (can't have been built within the last 20-30 years). I have already sent Cheekwood." Send to the same email address above in JPEG format.
