The Nashville Predators are back in town. Informal skates at Centennial started yesterday, though most of the team was in town Sunday for Wade Belak's funeral.

It was a return to some level of normalcy for a hockey team — and hockey world — rocked by sadness during the off-season. The stupidity of the Stanley Cup riots in Vancouver would have been a low point in most any summer. But then Rick Rypien committed suicide. Derek Boogaard accidentally overdosed. And Nashville's own Belak was found dead, just 35 years old, in a Toronto hotel room last week.

And today, it got worse.
