July was a hot Headline Homes month for music superstars. The Sunshine Girl Trust — owned by Miley Cyrus — topped the buyer list with a nearly $6 million home purchase in Franklin, and Reba McEntire said goodbye to the abode in Lebanon she shared with her ex-husband Narvel Blackstock. 

Below are July’s top 10 home sales in Nashville and the surrounding counties, ranked by sale price.

1. 242 Arrowhead Road, Franklin 37069

Buyer: Sunshine Girl Trust

Sale price: $5.8 million

Seller: Keith A. Hays

Buyer’s agent: Jimmy Kitchen and Susan Hutcherson, RE/MAX Elite 

This 33-acre-plus Franklin estate was purchased under Cyrus’ Sunshine Girl Trust. It includes a pool, a small putting green, a first-level screened-in deck, a rooftop patio and a separate log-cabin home a short distance from the main house. The home, which is nearly 7,000 square feet, was custom-built and has incredible views of the vast property. 

2. 175 Cherokee Dock Road, Lebanon 37087

Sale price: $4.25 million

Seller: The Smith Trust of Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock

Sold by a trust owned by Reba McEntire and her ex-husband, this almost 13,000-square-foot home sits on 83 acres. It has lake access, a pool, tennis courts, a home theater, a five-stall barn and outdoor equestrian arenas. Developers plan to build 15 homes on the acreage, according to a story in The Tennessean. 

3. 1004 Liberty Church Trail, Brentwood 37027

Sale price: $3.5 million

This nearly 4-acre “paradise is hidden on a quiet cul de sac in a bucolic setting,” according to its listing. It includes a pool with pavilion, tennis courts and a media room, and has seven bedrooms, eight full baths and four half-baths. It also includes a live-in mother-in-law suite. 

4. 1721 Woodsong Drive, Lot 12, Brentwood 37027

Sale price: $2.2 million

This 6,250-square-foot home includes a dog suite, an elevator and laundry rooms on two levels. It was sold by Dee Anna Smith, chief executive officer of Sarah Cannon, the global cancer enterprise of Hospital Corporation of America, and her husband Arthur. It also includes a grand covered porch and outdoor kitchen.

5. 1057 Vaughn Crest Drive, Franklin 37069

Sale price: $2.2 million

This home, purchased by physician Joel L. Fine and his wife Stefanie, includes a walnut study and walnut flooring throughout, as well as coffered ceilings, a home theater, a recreation room and a workout room. It sits on 1.5 acres and has more than 10,000 square feet to stretch out in.

This 7,900-square-foot abode includes a chef’s kitchen, a wood-burning stove, several walk-in closets, a media room, a “children’s den” and a television in the master shower. It was purchased by attorney John T. Cook and sold by Vanderbilt surgeon Scott Arthur and his wife Sally.

This Leipers Fork horse farm is a “unique historic property” sitting on almost 100 acres. It features a covered bridge entry and fully renovated residence. It’s small for a Headline Homes listing — just less than 4,000 square feet, but it also includes a nearly 1,000-square-foot detached cabin built in 1820 and a four-stall barn and outbuilding. Much of the wood used in the building of the 1910 home was poplar and chestnut milled on the farm.

This Whitland-area 6,500-square-foot home with an open floor plan includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms and several covered porches. It was sold by Philip and Carolyn Bowie, who purchased the home two years ago for $1.96 million.

This home was just built in 2016 and features almost 9,000 square feet of living space on just more than an acre in Oak Hill.

Physician James Leach purchased this home, which has recently been completely renovated. Originally built in 1991, it has hardwood throughout, Italian marble countertops, a chef’s kitchen and a full-sized butler’s pantry. It also includes a large fenced-in backyard and in-ground pool.
