For weeks we’ve been hearing rumors that the paper version of All the Rage, the Tennessean’s faux-alt-weekly, was going to be folding now that Metro Mix—a separate music and nightlife listing website paid for by Gannet—is up and running. When we called Rage editor Kristin Whittlesey last month to ask if the rumors were true, she laughed uncontrollably and said, “Let me call you back.” “You didn’t say no,” we pressed. “Let me call you back,” she answered. Whittlesey did call us back and told us that she was in production on her next issue. As far as she knew, everything was okey-dokey. Well, this week we opened the Rage to find a blurb on page two headlined, “Get Ready to Metromix.” Beneath this was a paragraph explaining that on Nov. 20 "All the Rage will become Metromix, a print version of our popular entertainment website.” So it looks like the dead-tree version of the Rage will live on under a new moniker, though calls to a Tennessean spokesmen and Whittlesey for details have gone unreturned today. Metro Mix started in Chicago and is used in the top 30 Gannet markets in the country. Here’s a story about how happy everyone in Jackson, Miss. was to have Metro Mix in their town.
