Every now and then, an issue comes before the Metro Council that serves as a litmus test for each member’s intelligence and honesty. Last week, The Tennessean’s Brad Schrade reported that 17 members of the Metro Council signed a petition asking Vice Mayor Howard Gentry to tear down the new window installed between the council chambers and a back room and instead replace it with a door. Previously, council members congregated secretly in that sequestered back room lobbying each other, privately socializing and disrupting the official proceedings.
