Third Man Records is proud to present the latest single by our absolute favorite producer/ singer / rock n roller New Zealander by way of the UK, Willy Moon. Willy is 21 years old, writes, records and produces everything on his own and keeps things short. Nothing grazes the three minute mark. He doesn't just blend different sounds, he smashes them together. It's as if rock n' roll was deep-frozen in 1965, and abruptly reanimated 45 years later by a laptop hip hop producer. Willy loves the physical energy of Cab Calloway, the brevity of The Ramones, and the style of film noir.
Video directed by Michael Carter.

To the untrained eye, it may appear as though we snoozed a little bit on Willy Moon's "Railroad Track." Not so. We were obviously just waiting for a slow, cool Wednesday on which to unveil it. Moon's a 21-year-old New Zealander, and his "Railroad Track" 7-inch is available now via Nashville's own
Third Man Records. If your turntable's dead, you can also "pick it up" on
iTunes. The B-side is
apparentlya cover of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang."
As you can see in the above video for "Railroad Track" — directed by prolific local videographer Michael Carter — the Kiwi crooner buzzed around Nashville for a spell, even popping into the ever-colorful Santa's Pub. As for the tune itself, it sounds a little to me like "Big Rock Candy Mountain" given the "Jesus Walks" treatment. Anyway, I'm apparently not the only one hearing hints of Kanye. Thumper of a song, striking video. Have a look.
