Vanderbilt Farmers' Market Expands in New Hillsboro Village Location

The Vanderbilt Farmers Market has returned for the season in a new location that's much more visible to people outside the campus community. It kicks off its third week in its new Hillsboro Village spot today (Thursday, June 18), 3 to 6 p.m.

The Vanderbilt market, a satellite of the Nashville Farmers' Market, was formerly situated near the hospital in Medical Center Plaza. Because of current construction on that site, the market has moved to the southeastern corner of campus near the intersection of 21st Avenue South and Blakemore, in Hillsboro Village.

The market will continue at that spot on Thursdays, 3 to 6 p.m.,  through Oct. 29. There will be 20 vendors at the market today, and more will be added in the coming weeks, says Jolie Ayn Yockey, marketing director at the Nashville Farmers' Market.

This year the Vanderbilt Farmers Market includes a special artisan circle, Yockey says, featuring "cheese and other delights." Vendors there include Noble Springs Dairy, Lost River Creamery (a family-owned cheese outfit that specializes in Gouda aged in Kentucky caves), Accidental Spices (which produces the popular Professor Bailey's Spicy Pimento Cheese) and more. Produce vendors include See Sun Vu Farm (which offers many Asian produce items) and Kelley's Berry Farm (a very popular vendor — blackberries are now in!).

Also: Bellview Produce, Fresh & Local, Howell's Farm, Lucky Farms, Nature's Promise, The Peach Truck and Smiley's Farm. There are two local meat vendors (Nashville Cattle Co. and Walnut Hills Farm), dairy products from JD Country Milk, locally grown bouquets from Her Flowers, and bread from nearby Provence, plus many more.
