CIRCUMSTANCE
providing you can walk up the stairs
providing you can still hold air
no one could pronounce you dead
providing that you feel her near
providing that youre not caught bear
no one could pronounce you dead
providing that youre not at home
providing that youre all alone
no one could pronounce you dead
providing that the truth is lies
providing thats your alibi
no one could pronounce you dead
take this beating heart as an answer from me
the shirt off my back is the best i can do
under the circumstance
Without seeing the running order of Stone Jack Jones' forthcoming album, Love & Torture, it could be a little tough to figure out which songs are on which side — love, or torture. The first single, "Circumstance," could easily belong to either or both, as illustrated in this new vid produced by Ryan Zackaria and directed by Erich Vogel. Lambchop frontman Kurt Wagner, appearing as the "master of ceremonies," walks you into a foreboding scenario in which Jones' disembodied visage watches over a young couple in a desperate hour, played by Kyle Hamlett and Kelli Shay Hix (of Jones' band, as well as Lylas and others). It's a grim situation, but the piece shows us some of the beauty implicit in it. The album is out March 17.
