Hey, it's AMA week! Almost. Maybe? I'm out of town, are the streets overflowing with beards and plaid? I mean, more than usual? I figured as much. Anyway, I don't usually weigh in on Americana 'round these parts — unless maybe to make fun of it — but that's because it doesn't usually sound like America to me. No, the other

America

, the English band. If the Americana Music Fest was all about the band America, I'd be their biggest booster — I've gone on record about my love for

soft-rock sounds

, and I'm not afraid to admit how much I love America. "Hey" and "Ho" all you want to, kids, but you'll never write a song as good as "

Ventura Highway

" while you're wearing a fedora and ordering eight-dollar coffees.

That said, have you guys heard Treetop Flyers? That Treetop Flyers song up there sounds just like America. And they're English too! They're playing at The Basement this Friday as part of the Washtub-Bass-a-Thon. All of which is excusable, because they sound like America.

And now we return to our regularly scheduled thrash metal.
