Those Darlins in the WaPo, D.P.R. on Out the Other, Eliza the Arrow: Newsy Bits

Eliza the Arrow

* Those Darlins' star keeps on rising, and they got a nice little write-up in Washington Post courtesy of Geoffrey Himes, who you may recall puts together the Scene's annual Country Music Critics Poll: "What makes these Tennessee women so refreshing is not their innovation but their memorable choruses. When "Wild One," their first single on their self-titled debut CD, begins, you may not know what to make of the ramshackle singing and guitar strumming, but you will soon get caught up in the trio's rambunctious enthusiasm." (Those Darlins on twitter.) * The Cream's own D. Patrick Rodgers will be a guest DJ tonight on Out the Other, so tune your FM dial to 91.1 starting at 7 p.m. D.P.R. will be on for the first hour, followed by your '60s requests, followed by all of y'all coming down to Mercy Lounge for a free show loaded with the good shit. You could win a guitar. A guitar! * Once upon a time, they were known as Forget Cassettes, Now, Eliza the Arrow finally has a website. Apparently there's a single on the way July 27, and meanwhile the due of Beth Cameron and Doni Schroader have a pair of songs you can stream, as well as some narrative about the recording process. Lesson learned No. 18: "Don't be a dick." (Via WOTT.)
