The Week in Fresh Tracks [Music Band, Bully, Scale Model, R. Stevie Moore, T. Rust, Ranger]

Happy Hump Day. We're only halfway through the week, and there's already so much of that good-good, as Beyonce would say, that we can't wait until Friday to share it with you. Follow me below to hear fresh tracks from locals including Music Band, Bully, Scale Model, R. Stevie Moore, T. Rust and Ranger. As always, look back at past weeks in fresh tracks

here

, and if you've got something for us, email cream[at]nashvillescene[dot]com.

Music Band, "Take It Back"

We've already established that local rock 'n' roll power trio

Music Band is good

. Quite good. Well, Diarrhea Planet drummer Casey Weissbuch is currently curating

a yearlong cassette-subscription series for DP label Infinity Cat

, and the first dose comes courtesy of Music Band. The song is "Take It Back," which

MB just debuted via Noisey

, and you can stream it above or

via Soundcloud

. It's an upbeat, three-minute, life-affirming scorcher that proves Music Band is more than just a trio of dudes who

wear comically oversized T-shirts and are obsessed with Garfield

for whatever reason.

Bully, "Milkman" b/w "Faceblind"

Oh hey, Cream faves Bully. The nervy punk-pop outfit will release a single ("Milkman" backed with "Faceblind") via Chicken Ranch on April 25, but you can already get a load of both tunes via

their Bandcamp page

(where you can also pre-order the 7-inch). "Milkman" is a rad, urgent rocker full of frontlady Alicia Bognanno's vocal harmonies, and "Faceblind" is a slightly more pensive mid-tempo jam. Hashtag both good. Dip in.

Scale Model, Star

Poppy neo-New Wavers Scale Model just released their debut long-player, Star, and it's full of thick, crunchy synths, four-on-the-floor beats and pristine pop vocals. There are definitely some spacy, Edge-esque post-punk guitars all over this bad boy, and you can stream it above or purchase it for $8 over at

Scale Model's Bandcamp page

.

R. Stevie Moore with Civil Civic, "Ping Pong"

Prolific experimentalist and lo-fi, anti-pop godfather of home recording R. Stevie Moore tells us the following: "Out soon, UK duo & me, stellar!" Meaning, he's got this track with Civil Civic by the name of "Ping Pong," plus more to come. "Ping Pong," which you can hear above or via

RSM's Bandcamp page

, is a manic, fuzzy, crunchy electronic-pop track that reigns in the chaos and delivers a symphony of infectious sound. Get it. Get into it. Bandcamp tells us there's more to come on July 4.

T. Rust, "Umbrella Dive"

Local dude T. Rust has a groovy new rock 'n' roll number by the name of "Umbrella Dive," and it features some surfy tones and bluesy licks. It also features local drummer Tyler Coppage on the skins, and that certainly doesn't hurt. Stream it above or purchase it for a buck via

T. Rust's Bandcamp page

.

Ranger, "The Ends of the Earth"

Ranger is the dreamy, ambient-pop project of Stephanie Kincheloe. At least, "dreamy ambient-pop" is how I'd describe Ranger's new tune, "The Ends of the Earth," which you can stream above or purchase for any price you like via

Bandcamp

. I appreciate any artist who can meld electronic production with elements like acoustic guitar and have it come off organic and seamless. Dig on it.
