The Nobility Album Release Tomorrow Night at The Rutledge; Make Their BGVs Your Ringtone

. Well, the time has come for The Nobility to put the contents of that package on display. Tomorrow night at The Rutledge, they'll celebrate the release of their brand-new The Secret of Blennerhassett Island. I wrote

about it, which reads as follows:

When longtime locals The Nobility’s brand-new The Secret of Blennerhassett Island showed up at the top of the ever-growing mail pile here at Scene headquarters, I thought to myself, “Oh great. I’m going to like this, and I’m going to write about it. But how am I going to describe this record without using words like 'playful,' 'brainy' and 'meticulous,' and how will I be able to put it in context without referencing ’60s, ’70s and contemporary baroque-pop, AM-pop and indie-pop artists like Paul McCartney, Emitt Rhodes, Harry Nilsson, The Beach Boys, ELO and Richard Swift?” And here I sit, at a loss. Carefully arranged, miscellaneous instrumentation — horns, keys, strings, guitars and a whole slew of percussion — take care of the “meticulous” and “baroque-pop” parts. And the vocals — from Muppet-like “ooh,” “ahh” and “loh-loh-loh” BGVs to frontman Sean Williams’ ease in shifting from chest voice to falsetto — easily land in playful, brainy territory. So you got me, The Nobility (formerly Jetpack UK, and just Jetpack before that). I bow to your impressive consistency.
