The Gills Parody Beyoncé in 'Lemonade' Trailer [Fresh Clip]

By now, you’ve no doubt noticed the internet was ablaze this weekend with reactions to Beyoncé’s semi-surprise-dropped visual album Lemonade, which aired on HBO Saturday night and remains available as a Tidal exclusive. If you haven’t yet soaked it in, Queen B’s cinematic magnum opus and sixth studio album is full of dazzling visuals, next-level music video tropes, betrayal, revenge, reconciliation, nostalgia, heritage, and guest spots from Jack White, Kendrick Lamar and more.

In this day and age when guerrilla marketing tactics are par for the course, local spazz rockers The Gills were well ahead of the curve in creating this painstaking parody as a trailer for their next video, also titled “Lemonade." The Steve Voss–directed clip lifts the instantly iconic image of Bey’s cornrow-Beydazzled head leaned against the back of a car and intercuts it with a disorienting, carnivalesque montage of wacky characters and unsettling visuals centered around an apropos lemonade stand motif.

The accompanying video is coming sometime this summer. In the meantime, you can purchase their “Lemonade” on iTunes now, and catch The Gills at Sevier Park Fest on May 7 with Kenny Foster and Kansas Bible Company — two days after Beyoncé's Formation Tour stops at Nissan Stadium.
