Tandy Wilson Wins Best Chef in the Southeast at the James Beard Awards

Tandy Wilson

Tandy Wilson of Nashville's venerable City House has won the Best Chef: Southeast award at the James Beard Foundation Awards gala this evening in Chicago.

It was a long-awaited victory for Wilson, a Nashville native, after nine semifinalist nominations in the category, and three previous nods on the finalist list.

Two other Tennessee chefs, Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman of Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen in Memphis, made it to the finals for Best Chef-Southeast. (The region includes Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia.)

The other finalists in the Southeast region were Kevin Gillespie (Gunshow, Atlanta), Edward Lee (610 Magnolia, Louisville, Ky.) and Steven Satterfield (Miller Union, Atlanta).

We at Bites couldn't be more thrilled that Wilson is finally getting this recognition. Congrats, Tandy!
