It's been a minute since we've heard from local rock 'n' roll shape-shifters DEDSA, so the release of their first new songs since 2013's Thrash Plastik is something to get stoked about. The single "Lighter Click" gradually morphs from dubby electro to gritty, King Crimson-esque prog, which is candy to my ears. The video, an in-house production illustrated and animated by Robbie Ward and edited by Ben Carreon, is on another level altogether. In the first minute alone, we're introduced to a reclusive cabal of bird monks; a lactating, multi-armed warrior cat goddess; a mysterious golden egg covered in runes and more. It's a little bit Terry Gilliam, a little bit Heavy Metal and all killer. Give it a spin while I go hunt for my Dungeonmaster's Guide. Catch DEDSA in the flesh, at Soulshine Pizza on Friday at 7 p.m., as they celebrate the video's release and their tenure as Lightning 100's artist of the week with a free show.
