In case you haven’t heard, Middle Tennessee is finally a tangible step closer to competing with the rest of the nation in the summer concert market. Finally filling the region’s long lamented void for a proper outdoor live music venue is The Woods at Fontanel — a midsized, 4,500-capacity amphitheater located in Whites Creek on the sprawling rustic estate of Barbara Mandrell, 10 miles north of downtown Nashville. After testing the waters with a handful of concerts last summer — including the Songwriters Sing for Nashville flood benefit — The Woods announced yesterday via press release that the first series of shows to comprise its inaugural season will feature a broad, albeit boomer-friendly, range of artists including Willie Nelson, Stone Temple Pilots, Steve Martin, Styx and The Dan.
