WXNA Announces Spring Pledge Drive
WXNA Announces Spring Pledge Drive

June 4 marks the one-year anniversary of low-power FM radio station WXNA's official sign-on, and that means we're approaching 365 days that each offered 17 hours or more of programming curated by community DJs.

That's some 6,205 hours of deep-catalog funk, soul, jump blues, garage rock, country and bluegrass; underground punk and rock from near and far; experimental and experiential music both classic and contemporary; interviews with local poets and activists; and even three jazz-centric programs, an even more important resource following MTSU jazz powerhouse WMOT's switch to an Americana format in 2016. That's barely scratching the surface of what they have to offer in their 2017 programming schedule.

The sounds may come streaming out of your radio (or computer) for free, but even with a staggering volunteer staff that includes more than 80 DJs who are there simply to spread their love for music, there are bills to be paid. To that end, the station will hold a spring pledge drive from May 15-21, during which they hope to raise $300 during each hour of programming — a goal of roughly $35,700, if you're counting.

You can make a pledge online at wxnafm.org/donate or by phone at 615-933-9962.
