#PistolAnnies #GotMyNameChangedBack #Vevo
As far as ass-kicking country supergroups are concerned, Pistol Annies — or "the Pistols Annie," as they are sometimes referred to here at Scene HQ — are the modern standard-bearers. The trio — which features noted singer-songwriters Miranda Lambert, Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe — will release their third LP, Interstate Gospel, this Friday, Nov. 2. It's their first full-length effort in a half-decade, and we'll have more on that in this week's forthcoming dead-tree edition of the Scene.
But in the meantime, the Annies have a little something to whet fans' appetites. Today they released the video for the Gospel single "Got My Name Changed Back," and you can give that a look above. In the clip, the Annies visit the courthouse and the local DMV to do the dismal post-divorce business referred to in the song's title. Only, in fitting Pistol Annies fashion, it isn't a dismal affair at all — there are sequins, party favors, confetti cannons and a bottle of bubbly whose label reads "Free Dom." "I wanted something new, then I wanted what I had," sings Lambert with a wry grin, before noting that her ex "got along good with a couple road whores." Look out, she's comin' in hot!
